Jude Law is reportedly in talks to play the lead role in David Slade’s “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” for Phoenix Pictures reports Bleeding Cool.
Based on a chapter in Bram Stoker’s classic novel “Dracula”, the story describes the disturbing voyage taken by the vampire count to England on a merchant vessel shipping cargo from Transylvania to London.
Stoker tells the story via the captain’s log of the voyage, which begins in Bulgaria and becomes increasingly disjointed as members of the crew disappear as Dracula feeds on them to sustain himself.
The ship eventually crashes on the rocks at Whitby with the only soul on board the dead captain who has been lashed to the steering wheel. Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Over the weekend came news that David Slade (“30 Days of Night,” “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) is in talks to direct.
Meanwhile, set photos of Law at work on Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion” have emerged at JustJared and show the actor in character in a biohazard suit during scenes shot in San Francisco this week.
