DC Entertainment has announced that Australian actor Joshua Orpin (“The Neon Spectrum”) has been cast as Superboy in the upcoming second season of DC Universe’s “Titans” series.
In the series, this Superboy is described as an angsty ‘Teenager of Steel’ searching for purpose and the truth about his past.
While looking for answers, he crashes into their world and finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.
This version is being called Conner Kent, the name given to the second version of Superboy in the comics who was a clone created in the wake of Superman’s death.
That would fit in with the first look at the character, along with Krypto the Superdog, which took place in a post-credits scene within CADMUS laboratories in the first season finale. A stand-in was used for the character in those scenes.
Orpin marks the third Australian actor in the main cast, joining Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson and Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth.
“Titans” is expected to return to screens either late 2019 or early 2020 on either DC Universe or the new WarnerMedia streaming service in the U.S., and on Netflix everywhere else.
