Josh Lucas will star in the $15 million British-Canadian thriller “God’s Spy” reports the trades.
Events in the film are based on the true events that culminated in the discovery of Italian banker Roberto Calvi hanging under London’s Blackfriars Bridge in 1982.
The story follows a young Wall Street trader (Lucas), who is really a Jesuit priest working undercover to gain experience of the financial markets.
He becomes caught up in a shady political and financial conspiracy involving the Vatican Bank, the CIA, the Mafia and Masonic Lodge P2.
Jordi Molla, Giancarlo Giannini and Peter O’Toole also star. Brian Phelan penned the script, whilst Andy Morahan will direct the picture.
Shooting begins next year in Montreal.
