Nine-year-old Australian actress Jordana Beatty has won the title role in HandMade Films potential family franchise starter “Eloise in Paris” reports the trades.
Based on the books by Kay Thompson, Eloise is a six-year-old girl who lives in the top floor of New York’s Plaza Hotel and has a series of magical adventures.
Two previous TV movies were made based on the character in 2003 starring Sofia Vassilieva as Eloise and Julie Andrews as Nanny. Uma Thurman will play Nanny in this version.
Charles Shyer directs the new film which begins shooting August 12th in Paris, New York and the south of France.
The follow-up novel, “Eloise Goes to Hollywood”, is already in development.
