Comedian and “Get Out” director Jordan Peele is reportedly in discussions to take on the long in the works live-action “Akira” remake at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Attempts have been made for much of the past decade to get the film, based on Katsuhiro Otomo’s iconic manga and anime franchise, going. So far they’ve had little success.
Jaume Collet-Serra left last year the project late last year, Justin Lin flirted with it for a while, and just last week came rumors of Daniel Espinosa and David Sandberg being up for the gig.
The Tracking Board reported on Peele’s discussions for the project. Peele has said he plans to make several more ‘social thrillers’ in the vein of “Get Out,” but hasn’t set his immediate next project yet.
