Three separate film projects about disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein are reportedly being shopped around at the moment, with one, in particular, picking up serious heat.
THR reports that “Casting JonBenet” writer/director Kitty Green has penned a secret script which is untitled and unfolds from the perspective of a long-tormented young female employee working under Weinstein.
The project sounds like a much darker take on “The Devil Wears Prada” setup, and those involved say it isn’t the direct story of one assistant but a fictional character constructed from both thousands of stories in the public record and numerous people who worked under him.
Indignities suffered by former TWC staff included coordinating Weinstein’s erectile dysfunction medicine injections and cleaning up his office after actress meetings – and those feature in the script along with Weinstein having sex with an unnamed actress at work. Weinstein’s ex-wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman, is also a character in the script.
Former Focus Features chief James Schamus will produce alongside Scott Macaulay. The project is in addition to two documentaries, and a separate narrative feature set up at Annapurna which is more about New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey’s articles which started the avalanche of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Weinstein.
