After a seven-year hiatus, “Under the Skin” and “Sexy Beast” filmmaker Jonathan Glazer looks to be returning for an untitled Holocaust-set World War II film with A24, Film4, Access Entertainment, and producer James Wilson. Shooting will begin in 2020.
Loosely based on author Martin Amis’ novel “The Zone Of Interest,” the story follows a Nazi officer that finds himself falling for the wife of the concentration camp’s commandant. The pair engage in their torrid, secretive love affair, while the spurned husband begins to suspect his wife – all playing out against the genocidal horror.
Also today comes word that “One Mississippi” duo Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne are set to make their feature directorial debut on a new untitled feature inspired by the real-life story of “Ellen DeGeneres Show” head writer Lauren Pomerantz.
The story follows two female thirtysomethings who have been best friends their entire lives. However, there are things unknown, or at least not quite accepted, which Lucy hides from Jane and herself. Only when Lucy embarks on a personal journey, will she face a test of her friendship, and her sense of self. The film is scheduled to start shooting in Los Angeles in early 2020.
