“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm has joined the cast of the Allen Ginsberg-themed indie feature “Howl” reports Screen Daily.
The story deals with the obscenity trial centering on Allen Ginsberg’s famed poem and will incorporate a reimagining of
Ginsberg reciting the poem through animated sequences.
Hamm will star as defense attorney Jake Ehrlich, whose life was the inspiration for the TV series “Perry Mason.”
James Franco, Mary-Louise Parker, David Strathairn, Jeff Daniels, Bob Balaban, Treat Williams and Alessandro Nivola also star.
Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman are directing and filming is underway in New York City where shots of Franco in character have already gone online.
