“Iron Man” and “The Jungle Book” director Jon Favreau has been hired to direct and executive produce the pilot for “Young Sheldon,” the upcoming “The Big Bang Theory” spin-off series on CBS.
The project has just received a full season order at the network and follows Iain Armitage as a nine-year-old version of Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper. At this stage of his life he is living with his family in East Texas and going to high school.
Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan also star, while Jim Parsons will narrate the comedy as adult Sheldon. The half-hour, single-camera comedy will debut in the 2017-2018 season.
