Jon Chu (“Step Up 3D,” “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never”) has beaten out F. Gary Gray (“Law Abiding Citizen”) in the competition to direct the sequel to “G.I Joe” for Paramount Pictures says Heat Vision.
Chu has now officially entered negotiations to direct the project currently known simply as “G.I. Joe 2”. Stephen Sommers helmed the first feature.
It’s expected several of the supporting roles will be recast with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Sienna Miller the most likely not to return. Channing Tatum is expected to reprise the role of Duke.
