Not long ago it was an Australian news issue which garnered world attention, and now there’s talk of a Hollywood superstar becoming involved in the film version.
The Calgary Sun reports that reps for Angelina Jolie have expressed an interest in buying the film rights to the story of Calgary mom Melissa Hawach who made headlines late last year.
Melissa’s estranged husband Joseph Hawach disappeared with their young children last July during a holiday to Sydney, Australia and took them back to Lebanon.
Without any legal recourse to get back custody, she allegedly hired mercenaries to help take back custody of her young children from a resort near Beirut just before Christmas.
Melissa, who was granted full custody last summer, safely returned with the girls a fortnight ago to a secret location as legal wrangling is still ongoing. Two of the men involved in the rescue remain in a Lebanese prison.
Melissa’s media agent Sean Anderson said up to eight major production companies have made offers to buy the film rights to Melissa’s story, including 20th Century Fox.
