The producers of FOX’s “Gotham” have included and teased a bunch of the villains from Batman’s rogue’s gallery in the show’s episodes so far. One they haven’t touched yet is the biggest of them all though, The Joker.
Executive producer Bruno Heller tells TV Guide that we’ll see a tease of the Clown Prince of Crime before the season is out, but don’t expect a big one:
“We’ve said you’re going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America — nobody wants to wait. So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it — a little tap on the door.”
Much of the first half of the show’s first season has been concentrating on Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin character. The second half though will bring more of Cory Michael Smith’s Edward Nygma into play and plant stronger hints about how he becomes The Riddler:
“Penguin [Robin Lord Taylor] was born a sociopath and was always going down this path one way or another. Nygma is someone who becomes the villain, and we see that journey begin in the second half of the season.”
“Gotham” will air a new episode next week entitled “The Scarecrow”.
