DC Entertainment has announced that Joivan Wade (“The First Purge,” ‘Doctor Who”) has joined the cast of the live-action “Doom Patrol” series for the DC Universe streaming service.
The series follows a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Wade will play the key role of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg – a part that Ray Fisher took on in the recent “Justice League” film.
This version is described as charming and sarcastic and struggles to maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance, he harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age. He’s the one that calls the Doom Patrol to action with a mission hard to refuse.
The Doom Patrol characters will appear in the fifth episode of the upcoming “Titans” before getting this separate series which has received a thirteen episode order. “Supernatural” producer Jeremy Carver is penning and executive producing alongside Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter.
