Johnson Talks “Black Adam,” First “Family” Clip

With the “Shazam!” movie well into production ahead of an April release next year, we know that the character’s iconic nemesis Black Adam won’t be a part of it. Instead, the character is getting his own solo film with Dwayne Johnson playing the role.

Sadly though there’s been no real update on the film’s progress in many months. This week, Johnson was out promoting “Rampage” and discussed with Yahoo his upcoming work and where the “Black Adam” film currently stands after the last update in November Adam Sztykiel came on to pen the film’s script:

“The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it. I’m very excited about it. If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie – in production. It’s this phenomenal opportunity for us to nail the tone and make sure he’s badass. Also, we have intrinsic DNA tied to a lot of other properties in DC.”

The quote comes as Film 4 has released the first clip from Stephen Merchant’s wrestling comedy/drama “Fighting With My Family” starring Dwayne Johnson, Florence Pugh, Jack Lowden, Lena Headey and Nick Frost. That project follows an eccentric wrestling family where the adult children get to audition for WWE. It opens in cinemas September 14th.
