Johnson: New “Jumanji” Is Not A Reboot

Dwayne Johnson wrapped filming his scenes for the upcoming “Fast 8” on Thursday night, following his ignition of a PR storm with an out-of-character social media posting the other week that quickly generated controversy over its seeming diss of his male co-stars.

Specifically it appeared there was a feud going on between Johnson and Vin Diesel. Some fairly obvious PR attempts were made to try and make it appear as though all was settled and going well, but there wasn’t much convincing going on and trade reports soon followed indicating others in the cast were quite upset about the feud going public.

Today, Johnson has done a new post on Instagram to thank some of his costars for their help. Trouble is, one name was noticeably missing from that thank you list – Vin Diesel. So much for burying that controversy.

Most of the post however revolves around the new “Jumanji” film which Johnson is about to begin filming. He confirms that despite reports, this is NOT a reboot but rather a continuation of the 1995 film:

“In two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart and Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of Jumanji. For the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome Jumanji story.”

“Fast 8” is currently targeting an April 14th 2017 release.
