The other day came word that “John Wick” co-director David Leitch had dropped out of co-helming that film’s sequel in favor of another project as his next film.
Now, that other project has been revealed – the spy thriller “The Coldest City” with Charlize Theron at Focus Features.
Kurt Johnstad penned the film about a spy in the late 1980s dealing with the aftermath of the murder of an underground MI6 officer. Denver and Delilah Productions, Oni Press and Sierra Pictures are producing the film.
Focus acquired the film at the Cannes Film Festival and at the time Leitch and Chad Stahelski were on board to direct. Then “John Wick 2” became set for a November shoot in Budapest and Berlin – as a result Stahelski went to ‘Wick 2’ whilst Leith stayed with ‘City’.
Both directors remain attached to direct the Chris Pratt-led “Cowboy Ninja Viking” at Universal Pictures.
