John Goodman has joined Stephen Daldry’s adventure tale “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” for Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures reports ABC News.
Based on the Jonathan Safran Foer novel, the story follows multi-talented nine-year-old Oskar Schell (12-year-old “Jeopardy” winner Thomas Horn) whose father died in the 9/11 attacks. Given a mysterious key by his father before he died, Oskar now wanders New York City in search of the lock it will open.
Goodman will play a doorman in Oskar’s apartment building who goes on a trip to exhume the father’s coffin. Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock also star.
Eric Roth (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) is adapting the script from Foer’s 2005 book which Scott Rudin will produce.
