John Cena To Lead Ludlum’s “Janson Directive”

John Cena will star in the film adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s posthumously published 2002 novel “The Janson Directive” for Universal Pictures.

The story follows Paul Janson, an ex-Navy SEAL whose sadistic C.O. in Vietnam turned him over to the enemy. He escaped and returned with evidence of war crimes that caused his CO’s execution. Years later, Janson is now a security consultant whose latest job is rescuing billionaire philanthropist Peter Novak who has been kidnapped by a terrorist.

When the job is botched, he is targeted for termination. Pursued by the young and ruthless Jessica Kincaid who can anticipate his moves, his investigations lead him to uncover a massive scandal.

Cena will take over from Dwayne Johnson who has been developing the project for much of the past decade as a starring vehicle. Johnson remains very much on board as producer and broke the news of Cena’s casting as Janson. Dany Garcia and Johnson are executive producing.
