John Cena has joined the cast of “Bumblebee,” Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s first spin-off feature based on the “Transformers” franchise which has just begun shooting.
The story is set in 1987 with Bumblebee finding refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), who is on the edge of seventeen, discovers the battle-scarred and broken yellow VW bug and quickly learns his true nature.
Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow and Grace Dzienny also star in the film which will be shot and take place entirely in California.
Paramount has also set a new release date for the film, pushing it back several months and will now open it on December 21st 2018 – same weekend as James Wan’s “Aquaman” and just several days before “Mary Poppins Returns” opens.
Travis Knight (“Kubo and the Two Strings”) helms the film which is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay. Christina Hodson (“Unforgettable”) penned the script.
