Shortly after it became clear that “Sex and the City 2” was a critical and commercial disappointment, rumors emerged that New Line was looking to reboot the franchise with a prequel based on Candace Bushnell’s recently released young adult novel “The Carrie Diaries”.
The book itself followed ‘Sex’ leading character Carrie Bradshaw’s early years in Connecticut when she was just a young foal, and her move to New York City. Well, now the The Herald Sun reports that “Gossip Girl” and “Green Lantern” star Blake Lively is director Michael Patrick King’s idea to play a young Carrie.
Meanwhile in news of a more confirmed variety, “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Shark” star Jeri Ryan confirmed on her Twitter account she will reprise the role of Sonya in Warner Premiere’s “Mortal Kombat” digital series.
Ryan played the role in the online short “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth” which went viral last year and lead to the green lighting of this digital series which is currently shooting in Vancouver.
Ryan later tweeted “just finished reading the whole script for Mortal Kombat. Holy crap… I think u might just love it. Get ready.” Kevin Tancharoen directs the shorts which are expected to be available this spring.
