“Green Room” director Jeremy Saulnier has announced that he’s following that acclaimed intense thriller with another in the same genre – Netflix’s “Hold the Dark”.
The Calgary Herald reports Saulnier starts shooting the film February 27th, a bloody and violent tale set in Alaska and based on William Giraldi’s 2014 novel.
Set during the start of a harsh winter, the story involves a pack of wolves taking three children from the village of Keelut, including the six-year-old son of Iraq War returnee Vernon Slone and his wife Medora.
Wolf expert Russell Core is brought in to investigate, but when the Slone son is found dead and Medora has gone missing, Vernon begins a maniacal pursuit that cuts a bloody swath across the frozen landscape.
Saulnier will shoot in Alberta for the Alaskan scenes, as well as a few days in Morroco.
