“War Horse” star Jeremy Irvine has signed on to play Pip in the latest film adaptation of the Dickens’ classic “Great Expectations” at BBC Films and Ulti-Media Group says The Hollywood Reporter.
Irvine plays the young orphan who is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Moving through London’s class-ridden world as a gentleman, Pip uses his position to pursue a spoilt heiress he’s loved since childhood.
Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Outhwaite, David Walliams and Holliday Grainger also star.
David Nicholls adapted the script and shooting kicks off next week in the U.K.
