Jennifer Esposito (“NCIS”) has joined the cast of the upcoming drama series adaptation of acclaimed Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic “The Boys” from Amazon Studios.
The story follows a CIA squad who closely monitor the superhero community as their celebrity status has corrupted them and led them to engage in reckless behavior compromising the world.
Esposito will be portraying CIA agent Susan L. Rayner, a woman who shares a complicated dynamic with team leader Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). She’s his boss and they hate each other, but they also have a destructive sexual relationship and Billy’s team ultimately answer to no one but themselves.
“Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke and “Preacher” series creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are all executive producing with the latter two directing the eight-episode first season. Production is underway with the series set to debut sometime in 2019.
