Jennifer Connelly is in early negotiations to join Tom Cruise in the Joseph Kosinski-directed “Top Gun” sequel at Paramount Pictures.
Cruise is reprising his role as hot shot Navy pilot ‘Maverick’ in the sequel to the 1986 Tony Scott/Jerry Bruckheimer classic. Connelly will play the movie’s female lead, a single mother who runs a local bar near the Navy base.
Kelly McGillis famously played Cruise’s love interest in the first film. Miles Teller also stars in the new film as the son of Maverick’s former wingman Goose (Anthony Edwards), while Val Kilmer reprises his role as ‘Iceman’.
Shooting will take place in San Diego from September. Connelly will be seen later this year in “Alita: Battle Angel” in December.
