“The Shallows” and “The Commuter” director Jaume Collet-Serra has been set to helm “Black Adam,” the upcoming DC Comics film adaptation starring Dwayne Johnson.
Collet-Serra just wrapped filming with Johnson in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” and the pair have opted to re-team here. Johnson, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia will produce.
In the comics, Black Adam is a semi-immortal Egyptian prince who became corrupted by the magical powers imbued to him by a wizard. He’s considered the archnemesis of Shazam, dating all the way back to the 1940s.
The character was at one point to have been in “Shazam!” movie but the studio and producers ultimately decided he warranted his own movie.
