With “Supernatural” finishing up after fifteen seasons, its two leading men are set to move onto other projects and one of them has locked down his.
Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester on the show, is expected to star in the title role in a reboot of the 1990s Chuck Norris-led “Walker, Texas Ranger” series for CBS Television Studios.
In the reboot, Cordell Walker (Padalecki) is a broken widower and father of two who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home.
Walker and his new partner, one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history, follow their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules.
Anna Fricke (“Being Human,” “Valor”) is attached to write and executive produce the new series with Dan Lin also executive producing. No network is currently attached, though one possibility is The CW.
Padalecki’s other work includes “Gilmore Girls” and “House of Wax”.
