Jared Harris (“The Terror,” “Fringe”) has signed on for the Daniel Espinosa-directed “Morbius,” the second Spider-Man Universe spinoff after “Venom,” which is currently in the works at Sony Pictures.
Jared Leto is attached to take on the role of Dr. Michael Morbius, a renowned biochemist who attempts to cure a fatal blood disease by injecting himself with a treatment serum derived from bats. This transforms him into the anti-hero Morbius who has the qualities of a vampire, including a taste for human blood.
Harris’ role is unknown. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama penned the screenplay, and Avi Arad, Matt Tolmachm and Lucas Foster are producing.
