Karen Janszen (“A Walk to Remember,” “Duma”) will adapt Ingrid Law’s young-adult book “Savvy” for Walden Media reports Variety.
The story revolves around a Midwestern family with superpowers, the main focus being on Mibs Beaumont who is about to turn thirteen (the age they acquire their powers). She has two brothers, one who causes hurricanes and another who creates electricity.
Two days before her birthday, her grandfather gets into a terrible accident. As Mibs develops the singular mission to get to the hospital, she sneaks onto a salesman’s bus only to find it heading in the opposite direction and herself on an unforgettable odyssey that will force her to make sense of growing up.
Law, who has been living in a trailer park up until now, is drawing rave reviews for her first novel which was available for free download last week.
