Allison Janney and Laura Dern are set to star in the indie black comedy noir tale “Breaking News In Yuba County” at AGC Studios. Tate Taylor (“The Help”) will helm from a script by Amanda Idoko which made last year’s Black List.
Janney plays an overlooked pencil-pusher who catches her husband in bed with another woman, the shock of which causes him to die of a heart attack.
She buries his body and takes advantage of the growing celebrity status that comes from having a missing husband, but soon finds herself in over her head, dodging cops and criminals.
Dern plays her sister Nancy, a local news anchor who is desperate for a story. Taylor will also produce the film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker. Shooting begins early next year.
