Marvel Television and Netflix have announced Oscar-nominated actress Janet McTeer (“Albert Nobbs,” “Tumbleweeds) is joining the cast of the currently in production second season of “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”.
Krysten Ritter stars as Jones, a former superhero rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City. McTeer will play an undisclosed character who will reportedly have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.
In a statement, Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer Jeph Loeb says: “We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”
The new season is expected to premiere early next year on Netflix. Ritter will be seen reprising the character in “Marvel’s The Defenders” which premieres on the streamer on August 18th.
