Jamie Dornan (“The Fall,” “Fifty Shades of Grey”) has signed on to co-star with Rosamund Pike in “A Private War,” a biopic about Marie Colvin at Thunder Road Pictures, Kamala Films and Denver & Delilah Films.
Set on the front lines of the most dangerous battlefields in the world, the story follows journalist Marie Colvin (Pike) who became one of the most celebrated war correspondents of her era.
Able to mingle with the elite of high-society and face down warlords, her coverage took her to the likes of Chechnya, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. She lost her left eye in 2001, but continued working up until her death in a rocket attack in Syria in 2012.
Last month Taron Egerton boarded the project as a journo with a military background that follows Colvin into multiple war zones. The new report makes no mention of his name and Dornan’s role is not revealed so it’s unclear if he’s replacing Egerton or taking on another part. Both Egerton and Dornan co-star in “Robin Hood: Origins” opening next year.
Matthew Heineman (“Cartel Land”) helms while Basil Iwanyk, Marissa McMahon and Charlize Theron will produce the project which begins filming in November.
