Sony Pictures is said to be aggressively pursuing filmmaker James Wan (“Furious 7,” “Insidious”) for a live-action feature adaptation of the “Robotech” franchise.
Based on the popular 1980s series of the same name, Robotech will deal with society’s use of robot technology to fend off an alien invasion.
Negotiations are underway with Wan following Sony’s acquisition of the property a month ago. Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are slated to produce while Michael Gordon (“300,” “G.I. Joe”) will pen the script.
Wan’s immediate next project will be the sequel to his supernatural horror hit “The Conjuring”.
