“The Conjuring” and “Aquaman” director James Wan will produce a feature film version of the Santiago Menghini short film “Milk” for New Line.
The short won best midnight short at SXSW last March and follows a sheltered young teen who goes into the kitchen for a glass of milk late at night. Upon encountering his sleepless overbearing mother, he quickly realizes his reality isn’t what it seems.
Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (“Super Dark Times) penned the script for the feature version which Menghini is directing. Michael Clear and Roy Lee will also produce.
Wan previously produced “Lights Out” which was also based on a short and is attached to numerous other projects as producer including an “Arachnophobia” remake, a new adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Tommyknockers” and the DC Universe “Swamp Thing” series.
