James Franco has pulled out of the upcoming biopic “The Iceman” at Millennium Films and Bleiberg Entertainment reports JustJared.
Based on Anthony Bruno’s book, the story follows notorious mob contract killer and loving family man Richard Kuklinski. Kuklinski killed over one hundred people during his life and never felt remorse except for hurting his family.
His family and neighbors believed he was an average businessman, having no idea about his deadly alternate life.
Franco was to play his mentor assassin known as Robert “Mr. Softee” Pronge, no word on the reason for his departure. Michael Shannon, Ray Liotta and Maggie Gyllenhaal have also been linked to the project.
Ariel Vromen directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Morgan Land.
