James D’Arcy Plays Some Virtuality

James D’Arcy (“Master and Commander”) has won the lead role in Fox’s new sci-fi series “Virtuality” says Reuters.

“Battlestar Galactica” & “Star Trek: DS9” producer Ronald D. Moore created the series set upon Earth’s first starship Phaeton which is on a 10-year journey to explore a distant solar system.

To cope with the long passage, the crew are able to use advanced virtual reality modules (think Star Trek’s holodecks) which allow them to assume various identities and go where they wish.

D’Arcy will play the ship’s psych officer who produces the virtual reality shows. Peter Berg (“The Kingdom,” “Hancock”) directs the pilot.
