“Jurassic World” & “New Girl” star Jake Johnson is reportedly the voice of Peter Parker in the upcoming Sony Pictures Animation feature “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”.
The film will put the focus on Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), Marvel’s half-black half-Hispanic character who is bitten by a radioactive spider and takes on the superhero mantle.
Parker, however, will play a supporting role in the film which is a hybrid of hand-drawn and CG animation and will look at the idea of multiple universes with multiple Spider-Men. Johnson’s casting was revealed via CinemaCon footage which showed Parker speaking with Johnson’s voice.
Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali, and Bryan Tyree Henry also voice characters in the film which is being produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and directed by Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, and Rodney Rothman. The film opens December 14th.
