With New Line no longer in line to produce, “Lord of the Rings” helmer Peter Jackson has begun shopping around his spec script adaptation of Alice Sebold’s novel “The Lovely Bones” reports Variety.
Jackson, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh co-wrote the script which went out to all studios except New Line.
The book tells the story of a 14-year-old girl who is raped and killed. Her spirit, however, keeps watch over her family and her killer.
Since 2004, Jackson has insisted that “Bones” would be his next directing project after “King Kong.” Before Jackson became involved, DreamWorks was planning to make the project.
