Jackman Talks Wolverine Future, Replacement

With Hugh Jackman retiring from the role of Wolverine after James Mangold’s upcoming third standalone film about the X-Men character, talk has understandably turned to who might replace him.

Jackman himself was recently asked by MTV for a suggestion and revealed that he thinks “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Inception” star Tom Hardy would be suitable.

Jackman, who has been doing press for Joe Wright’s fantasy film “Pan,” also spoke about Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X in the next film. He says the script is about halfway done and says Stewart’s role is key in it, telling Collider:

“Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

Asked about the production timeline, Jackman says the plan is to start shooting next year and he’s just started the training and prep for the part.
