Ryan Reynolds has effectively been begging for Hugh Jackman to slip on the claws as Wolverine to join him on screen as Deadpool again following their earlier collaboration on “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.
The pair are good friends and have been having fun teasing the possibility, but Jackman has previously indicated that next week’s “Logan” will be his final time playing Wolverine on screen.
In some earlier press quotes he’s given, Jackman has taken a ‘never say never’ style position on the possibility. In a Facebook live interview this week though, that changed and now he’s firm – he won’t be joining Deadpool:
“No, and Ryan is currently sleeping outside my house. [Laughs] Look, if that movie had appeared ten years ago, probably a different story, but I knew two and a half years ago that this was the last one.
The first call I made was to [Logan director James Mangold]. I said, ‘Jim, I got one more shot at this,’ and as soon as Jim came up with the idea and we worked on it, I was never more excited. But, it feels like the right time. Deadpool, go for it man, do your thing. You don’t need me.”
Reports of a special scene being attached to the beginning of “Logan” has already sparked speculation that it could include Jackman and Reynolds together on screen in some capacity, and this would be the closest the characters come to interacting in a movie.
“Logan” opens in cinemas on March 3rd.
