CBS All Access has announced that Jack Reynor (“Sing Street,” “Transformers: Age of Extinction”) will star in its upcoming original drama series “Strange Angel” based on a true story. David Lowery (“A Ghost Story,” “Pete’s Dragon”) will direct the pilot.
Reynor plays Jack Parsons, a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles who started as a janitor at a chemical factory. His fantastical dreams led him to birth of American rocketry.
At the same time he fell into the world of sex magick rituals at night, and became a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley whose teachings he used to support his endeavor to the stars.
Mark Heyman (“Black Swan,” “The Skeleton Twins”) created the series based on George Pendle’s book of the same name. Heyman, David DiGilio, Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker will serve as executive producers.
