Three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, who hasn’t appeared on screen since 2010’s “How Do You Know” and hasn’t led a film since 2007’s “The Bucket List,” is reportedly coming out of his long hiatus to topline the remake of German-Austrian dramedy “Toni Erdmann” for Paramount Pictures.
Maren Ade helmed the film which premiered at Cannes last year and has been met with critical acclaim the world over along with being a nominee for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
The original follows a father (Peter Simonischek) who, hoping to reconnect with his career-minded daughter, creates the titluar Toni Erdmann – a fictional life coach who winds up wreaking havoc with the daughter’s professional life.
The role of the daughter has not yet been filled nor has the studio attached a writer or director. Jessica Elbuam, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jonas Dornbach and Janine Jackowski will produce the English language remake.
