TV’s “The Goldbergs” writer Rob Lieber has been set to pen the sequel to “Goosebumps,” the live-action take on the beloved R.L. Stine novels.
Lieber script is reportedly one of several that Sony is considering using, and what’s notable about it is that it doesn’t include Stine as a character like the first one did.
So does that mean actor Jack Black is out? Sony Pictures reportedly has no deal in place to bring Black back, which suggests the movie will go in a notably different direction than the first. “Goosebumps 2” is still targeting a September 21st 2018 release.
The sequel will come on top of other Stine adaptations in the works including a film trilogy based on his “Fear Street” series at 20th Century Fox.
