J.B. Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) has scored a major role in the currently filming “Spider-Man: Far from Home” at Sony Pictures reports Heat Vision.
Specifics of Smoove’s role are under wraps but he plays the first new cast member to be set beyond Jake Gyllenhaal who is tipped to play the villain Mysterio.
Jon Watts is directing, and Tom Holland returns as the web-slinger, with Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei expected to reprise their roles in the film which opens July 5th next year. A brief set video from the UK shoot is out on and shows Holland’s Peter Parker having an emotional scene on a rooftop.
The casting news also comes as both Marvel and Holland have paid tribute to “Spider-Man” co-creator Steve Ditko who passed on Friday. Holland said: “We all want to leave our mark on the world – this guy crushed it. He made so many people so happy and changed lives – most of all, mine! Thank you Steve – your life lives on man, thank you.” Marvel tweeted out:
Thank you, Steve. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/sDCYlciRxh
