Marvel and Sony have finally settled on not just their new Peter Parker, but who will take the reigns of his first story.
Young British actor Tom Holland (“The Impossible,” “Wolf Hall,” “In the Heart of the Sea,” “Locke”) has scored the role of Peter Parker, aka the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe approved take on the character.
Holland is expected to make his first appearance in the role in the currently filming “Captain America: Civil War” to properly introduce him into the Marvel film universe ahead of a first standalone film in July 2017.
At the same time, Jon Watts has been set as the first standalone film’s director. Watts directed the upcoming indie thriller “Cop Car” which debuted at this year’s Sundance, he also helmed the 2014 horror film “Clown”.
