It’s really happening.
A few days ago came rumors that “The X-Files” would be returning for a limited event series run on FOX, with creator Christ Carter and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Today, FOX has issued a press release and confirmed the news. Thirteen years since the series finale, the network has picked up the series for a six-episode run.
Carter has also posted a statement: “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
This event series is scheduled to begin production this summer. No air date has been revealed as yet.
