“National Treasure” director Jon Turteltaub has signed on to helm a feature film based on the Disneyland ride “It’s a Small World”.
“The LEGO Movie 2” scribe Jared Stern will write the screenplay after reportedly pitching a potential franchise-creating take to Disney.
The attraction has been around since the 1960s and consists of a boat ride past animated figures frolicking in miniature settings of many lands in what’s called a “salute to the children of the world”. It’s also known for its catchy theme song of the same name sung by a choir of animatronic children.
The project is expected to take some time to come together. Dan Lin is producing.
