Actress Olivia Munn has previously often played things coy when talking about her work on the “X-Men” saga. Munn first appeared in “X-Men: Apocalypse” as Psylocke, and has confirmed that she reprises that role in the upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix”.
In a new interview with Collider, Munn was asked further about her role in the film and said she couldn’t really say much. She did drop one surprise though:
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’m supposed to be vague. That’s my answer. I’m horrible at that. It’s like a two-parter, this movie. That’s more than I’ve said, in general. I don’t know why people have to be so secretive.”
That two-parter reference has now provoked theories. Is she referring to Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix as two parts, or will the Dark Phoenix saga be split across two films?
20th Century Fox is aggressively moving forward with its “X-Men” films with three untitled Fox/Marvel films slated for 2019 and three for 2020 along with “X-Men: The New Mutants,” “Deadpool 2” and ‘Dark Phoenix’ next year.
Munn also expresses support for longtime franchise producer/writer Simon Kinberg who makes his directing debut here:
“I love Simon Kinberg. He’s such a visionary. We’re all so close. Anytime that you’re working on a project where everyone hangs out and they’re close, it’s a breeding ground for great content and a great experience. I think Simon is gonna kill it. He’s gonna do such a fantastic job with it. When I came on, he pitched me to be Psylocke, and I didn’t know him until I worked on that movie, but you see how everyone is friends and they hang out.”
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is slated to open late 2018.
