Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the scribes behind the first “Iron Man” and “Children of Men”, have been hired to pen the upcoming reboot of the “Tomb Raider” franchise for GK Films says Heat Vision.
The hugely popular game series, first published in 1996, followed the daredevil archaeologist Lara Croft on a series of global missions. The property was previously adapted into two films in 2001 and 2003 starring Angelina Jolie.
The new version is a confirmed reboot which will ignore the previous films from Paramount. In a press release, the scribes say the play to create an “origin story for Lara Croft that solidifies her place alongside Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor in the pantheon of great female action heroes.”
Graham King and Tim Headington are producing. A 2013 release is planned.
