Iron Man 3, “Logan’s Run” Get New Scribes

When Shane Black was hired to direct “Iron Man 3,” it was thought he would be writing the script as well considering he’s best known as a writer of action fare like “Lethal Weapon” and “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”. Black himself confirmed as much at the Omaha Film Festival a few weeks back.

Now, Deadline reports that Drew Pearce has been hired to work on the script. Pearce penned the screenplay for the shelved “Runaways” film, though is most known for his work on the cult UK superhero comedy series “No Heroics”.

Meanwhile, former L.A. cop turned regular “Castle” scribe Will Beall is in negotiations to pen the “Logan’s Run” remake for Warners Bros. Pictures says Heat Vision.

The project has been stuck in development for a while but recently began to steer toward production when “Drive” star Ryan Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn were announced to be re-teaming on the Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman produced project.

Alex Garland penned the previous script which adapted William F. Nolan’s 1967 novel on which the original 1976 film and this remake will be based. Beall is also penning the upcoming “Gangster Squad” and “Lethal Weapon” reboot.
