The first trailer, an international one, is out for the upcoming “Woody Woodpecker” movie based on the classic cartoon character.
A combination of animation and CG along “The Smurfs” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks” lines, the film has the hyperactive red-headed bird entering a turf war with a divorced attorney (Timothy Omundson) who wants to tear down his home to build a house he can then sell on.
Thaila Ayala, Graham Verchere, Jordana Largy, Adrian Glynn McMorran, Chelsea Miller and Jakob Davies co-star with Eric Bauza providing the voice of Woody Woodpecker.
Alex Zamm (“Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2,” “Inspector Gadget 2”) is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with William Roberts. The film opens in Brazil in October 2017. No word on a U.S. release.
